JOLIET, Ill. The Justice for Wives Foundation, in partnership with First Choice Firearms and New School Leaders, is hosting a 2-Day Illinois State-Required Concealed Carry Class. Scheduled for August 30-31, 2025, this training aims to educate, equip, and empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves and their loved ones. The class is designed specifically for individuals seeking to obtain their Illinois Concealed Carry License (CCL). By meeting all the requirements set by the Illinois State Police, this course ensures that participants gain the knowledge needed to safely carry a concealed firearm. The primary focus of this class is to empower individuals, especially women, with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves, said Nicole Lurry, the event organizer. We aim to provide more than just firearm training; this course is about building confidence, understanding the legal aspects of concealed carry, and ensuring safety at all times. Participants will engage in both classroom instruction and hands-on firearm training. The classroom sessions will cover topics such as gun safety, basic firearm operation, defensive shooting techniques, and an understanding of the laws surrounding concealed carry. The hands-on training will offer participants a chance to practice shooting in a controlled, supervised environment, under the guidance of experienced instructors. The aim is not only to teach how to handle firearms but also to ensure that students understand the responsibility that comes with concealed carry, Lurry continued. This class emphasizes safe gun handling, proper judgment, and the laws surrounding when and how to use force. Illinois residents seeking a CCL are required to complete a state-approved concealed carry class, and this course fulfills all state requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be eligible to apply for their CCL. The two-day format ensures that individuals can receive the training in a comprehensive but time-efficient manner. The class is open to both men and women but is tailored to meet the specific needs of women, who have shown increasing interest in self-defense and concealed carry in recent years. Organizers have emphasized that this course is a safe space for individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels, and it is designed to foster a welcoming environment where questions and concerns can be addressed openly. The Justice for Wives Foundation, a nonprofit organization, focuses on empowering women by offering educational and safety training programs. This concealed carry class is part of their broader mission to help women feel safer and more confident in their daily lives. The event is expected to attract participants from across the state, with a large portion of attendees being first-time gun owners and those interested in learning more about responsible firearm ownership. A certificate of completion will be awarded to all participants who successfully finish the course, allowing them to move forward with their application for a concealed carry license.
