The 2025 USA High School Clay Target League (USAHSCTL) National Championship commenced on July 9, 2025, in Mason, Michigan, drawing student-athletes from 460 high schools across the nation. This prestigious event, recognized as the country's largest high school clay shooting competition, is taking place at the Michigan Trapshooting Association and will run through July 13. Approximately 3,000 student-athletes are participating in a rigorous schedule, with practice days on July 9 and 10. Qualifying rounds for both teams and individuals are slated for July 11 and 12, leading up to the championship finals on July 13, where the top five teams and top 10 male and female shooters will be crowned. Founded in 2001, the USA Clay Target League has grown to become the largest and safest clay shooting program for secondary schools nationwide, boasting over 53,000 participants in the 2024-2025 school year. The league is fully school-approved, co-ed, and adaptive, ensuring inclusivity and compliance with Title IX regulations. A paramount priority of the program is firearm safety, with an impressive record of no reported injuries since its inception. This year's championship is supported by notable sponsors including the U.S. Army, Friends of NRA, the Lansing Sports Commission, Ducks Unlimited, and Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's Outdoor Fund, among others.
