The districts 'Safe Schools, Safe Students' initiative partners with more than a dozen agencies including local police, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Department of Homeland Security to strengthen preparedness. This years enhancements include additional armed school resource officers, $1.2 million in bollards, $1.7 million in new fencing, nearly $1 million in ballistic window film, and upgraded camera systems. A pilot program for AI weapons detection is underway, leveraging existing security cameras. Students will also have access to a Text-to-Tip hotline, which received 150 submissions last year. The districts cell phone restrictions remain in place to reduce distractions while maintaining parent communication in emergencies.
