✍️By ZRIntel Editorial Team📍Cairo, EgyptCairo, Nov 10: In a stunning display of precision and determination, Indias Anish Bhanwala has clinched the silver medal in the 25m rapid-fire pistol event at the ISSF World Championships held in Cairo. After a disappointing performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Bhanwala's journey to the podium marks a significant turning point in his shooting career and showcases the resilience of the youthful shooter. The competition, known for its high stakes, provided a platform for Bhanwala to redeem himself, and he did not disappoint. The 23-year-old marksman from Haryana endured intense pressure during the event. He not only had to navigate through the qualification round but also faced nerve-wracking shoot-offs during the finals. After securing a solid second place in qualification with a score of 585, Bhanwala continued to perform admirably in the finals. His performance included a perfect five in the opening series, putting him in a strong position early on. Clement Bessaguet of France claimed the gold medal with an impressive score of 31 points, while Ukraines Maksym Horodynets took the bronze. The journey to the silver medal was not without its challenges for Bhanwala, who demonstrated remarkable focus despite faltering in some rounds. He tied in a score of 22 points at one stage but managed to rebound, using his experience and skill to advance through the elimination rounds, culminating in a tense shoot-off against his competitors. Bhanwala's experience in competitive shooting has been enriched by his past victories in Cairo, a location he considers to be a "happy hunting ground". Having previously won a World Championships mixed team silver and earned several World Cup medals, Bhanwala demonstrated that familiarity with the venue can play an advantageous role in performance under pressure. This accomplishment is particularly significant as it positions him in the ranks of esteemed Indian shooters, second only to Vijay Kumars silver medal achievement at the 2012 London Olympics. The accolades not only highlight his current abilities but also set a precedent for upcoming talent in the sport. While Bhanwala was the star, he was not the only Indian in the fray. Adarsh Singh and Sameer finished 22nd and 35th respectively, with the Indian contingent finishing fifth overall. This performance underscores the depth of shooting talent within India's ranks and the potential for future international success. As competitive shooting continues to evolve, Anish's medal could spark increasing interest and investment in shooting sports across India. Shooters like him may inspire the next generation to take up the sport and pursue excellence on the world stage.
