An armed intruder was shot and killed by a homeowner in Phoenix late Monday night, according to police. The suspect allegedly forced entry into the residence through a back door while the occupants were asleep. The homeowner, awakened by the noise, retrieved a firearm and confronted the suspect, who was reportedly armed with a knife. Police say the homeowner fired after the suspect advanced toward him, ignoring verbal commands to stop. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed against the homeowner, who is cooperating fully with authorities. Investigators are still working to determine the suspects identity and possible motive.
