On Sunday, May 31, a suspect perpetrated an armed carjacking in Martinsburg, WV, before fleeing into Washington County, MD. The police identified the individual as 30-year-old Jordon Larine Redfern from Martinsburg. The incident occurred around 4:15 PM when a family, stopped at the Roc's Gas Station on Shepherdstown Road addressing a flat tire, was threatened at gunpoint by Redfern. Upon compliance with his demand to exit the vehicle, the victims reported him as wearing black clothing and carrying a backpack, which had what appeared to be a sword protruding from it.
Following the theft, he abandoned the stolen vehicle in Maryland and went on to carjack another vehicle at gunpoint. Authorities initiated a pursuit, which was eventually called off. Redfern was later arrested in connection to a bank robbery, indicating a troubling escalation of his criminal activities. According to the Berkley County Sheriff's Office, his arrest has alleviated immediate safety concerns within the public, although they continue to encourage anyone with information related to the case to reach out.
