To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, Beretta has unveiled a special edition shotgun, the A300 Ultima Patrol Raider. This historic celebration reflects Beretta's long-standing relationship with the U.S. military, particularly its history with the Marine Corps, dating back over four decades with the M9 serving as a standard sidearm until 2020. The A300 Ultima Patrol Raider is designed not only to pay homage to the past but also to incorporate modern advancements in firearm technology. The A300 Ultima Patrol Raider is based on Beretta's well-regarded A300 Ultima Patrol, a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun that operates using a gas-operated mechanism. This model features a robust aluminum alloy receiver where the bolt locks into the barrel extension, ensuring durability and reliabilitycharacteristics vital for military application. The muzzle of the barrel is threaded for Mobil-pattern choke tubes, allowing for versatility in various shooting conditions. Notably, the design includes enlarged controls such as an extended bolt release, an oversized reversible safety button, and an enlarged loading port, which assist in smoother operation, particularly under duress. Equipped with a seven-round capacity tubular magazine, the Patrol Raider also features 'ghost ring' sights with protective wings to enhance aiming precision, while a Picatinny rail on the top of the receiver allows shooters to add optics for improved targeting capabilities. The ergonomic design is complemented by three M-Lok slots on the handguard, providing further customization options. However, what distinguishes the A300 Ultima Patrol Raider is its unique appearanceits metal components and synthetic furniture are finished in a distinctive Frogskin camouflage, reminiscent of the gear used by original Marine Raiders during World War II. This thoughtful design choice not only respects historical context but also serves tactical purposes by allowing the shotgun to effectively blend into natural environments. Adding a layer of functionality, the Patrol Raider includes a bayonet mount that is compatible with M16-pattern bayonets, evoking the tactical utility of historical trench guns used in combat during both world wars. With an overall length of 38 inches and a weight of 7.9 pounds, the shotgun is tailored for ease of maneuverability, critical for both military personnel and sport shooters. In a move that emphasizes its commitment to the Marine Corps legacy, Beretta is releasing a limited-edition commemorative version of the Patrol Raider. Only 250 of these special shotguns will be produced, each housed in custom, velvet-lined wooden "ammo crate" display cases and paired with a specially made M9 bayonet from Ontario Knife Company. Beretta has also contributed one of these commemorative editions to the Marine Raider Foundation's auction, further strengthening ties to the military community. The A300 Ultima Patrol Raider is priced at a suggested retail price of $1,399, while the limited edition version will sell for $2,499. This pricing strategy indicates Beretta's intention to offer both accessible and premium market options, serving various segments of firearm enthusiasts.
