With the start of the new school year just weeks away, Chatham County Sheriffs Office personnel gathered at Seaforth High School for a high-intensity training exercise designed to prepare them for one of the worst-case scenarios: an active shooter on a school campus. Deputies practiced decision-making under pressure as simulated gunfire rang through empty hallways. The drill is an annual event aimed at improving law enforcement's response time and communication during a crisis.
