Between May 25 and May 31, 2026, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, alongside the Gangs/Narcotics Division and several other law enforcement agencies, executed a targeted crime suppression operation known as "Operation Consequences". This initiative involved conducting searches and engaging with known gang members and individuals prohibited from possessing firearms. During the operation, which emphasizes a crackdown on violent crime and gang-related activities, three firearms were seized, and two individuals were arrested in connection with illegal possession and possibly other charges related to firearm laws.
The operation's focus is not only on immediate enforcement but also addresses long-term community safety issues. The funding authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors is aimed at enhancing the Sheriff's Department’s capability to conduct future operations and ensure better quality of life for residents. This initiative is particularly significant as it seeks to disrupt the supply chain of illegal firearms and tackle the root of gang violence in a region facing escalating crime rates.
The collaborative efforts during Operation Consequences included various departments, such as the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Police Department, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The operation signifies a key step forward in concerted law enforcement actions designed to dismantle gang networks and curb illegal gun trafficking within the county.
