📅
✍️By ZRIntel Editorial Team📍Willemstad, CuraçaoWILLEMSTAD - The Olympic Shooting Federation of Curaao (OSFC) has announced significant achievements for 2025, including official recognition as the governing body for Olympic shooting on the island and Curaaos return to international competition after more than a decade. Throughout this year, OSFC successfully organized several local competitions across multiple Olympic shooting disciplines, held at various shooting ranges on the island. Events included air pistol competitions in the Senior Mens and Womens, Junior Mens and Womens, and Mixed Team categories, as well as air rifle contests in the Senior Mens division. All air pistol and air rifle events were hosted at the Asiento / Curaao Precision Air Pistol Range in Emmastad, while small-caliber pistol disciplines such as Sport Pistol (Women) and Rapid Fire Pistol (Men) took place at the Santa Rosa Shooting Range. In a major step forward, the OSFC has received official recognition from the FDOK (Federashon Deporte Olmpiko Krsou) as the legitimate organization representing Olympic shooting sports in Curaao. This recognition not only elevates the status of the sport locally but also aligns Curaao with other international shooting federations, fostering competition among diverse nations. The federation has also been formally accepted as a member of the CTCC (Confederacin de Tiro Centroamericano y del Caribe), allowing Curaao to officially qualify for and participate in international regional competitions, including prestigious events such as the Bolivarian Games, the Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC), and the Odesur (South American Games). These events rank among the most prestigious on the global sports calendar, second only to the Olympic Games and the Pan American Games. A notable highlight this year was Curaaos return to international Olympic shooting events after an absence of over a decade. A delegation of seven athletes, ranging in age from 14 to 70, represented Curaao at a major competition in El Salvador, marking a significant milestone in the island's sports history. Curaao's successful participation resulted in qualification for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in Santo Domingo in July 2026. The athlete selection process for CAC will initiate next year, with all members affiliated with OSFC eligible to participate, indicative of a surge in interest and involvement in shooting sports on the island. The federation announced that detailed selection criteria will be available on its official website, ensuring transparency and inclusivity in the selection process. The OSFC emphasizes that these accomplishments lay a crucial foundation for a new era of excellence and inclusion in Curaaos shooting sports. Together, we are building the future of Olympic shooting in Curaao one shot at a time, declared the federation, highlighting their commitment to fostering talent and enhancing the profile of shooting sports locally and internationally.
