Retired Stockton Police Sergeant Dallas L. Faulkner passed away on October 3, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime marked by dedicated service to his community and country. Born in Nyssa, Oregon, in 1934, he relocated to Stockton, California, shortly thereafter, where he built a legacy of bravery and leadership. Joining the United States Navy Reserves, Faulkner's journey began, leading to his recruitment in the Stockton Police Department in 1956. After over three decades of committed service, he retired as a Sergeant in 1988. His career was distinguished, marked by his rise to responsibility within critical divisions, including Robbery-Homicide. Not only did he excel in law enforcement, but he also took up the mantle of leadership as the President of the Stockton Police Officers Association and the SPOA Widows and Orphans Fund. Faulkner was known for his expertise in firearms, recognized as an expert firearms instructor and the esteemed Range Master for the department. His commitment to excellence in marksmanship positioned him as a member of the department's champion pistol shooting team throughout the 1960s. An indelible hallmark of his career was his pivotal role in establishing the Stockton SWAT Team, an initiative that notably enhanced public safety in the community. Serving as the first SWAT Commander, Faulkner's leadership laid vital groundwork for tactical response units in the area, establishing protocols still in use today. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Faulkner was a devoted family man, survived by his wife Jo Ann and children Dallas M. Faulkner, Kevin Faulkner, Sheree Coe, and Leslie Wright. Beyond the badge, Faulkner was an avid hunter, deeply committed to conservation efforts as a member of Ducks Unlimited. After his retirement, he broadened his impact on public safety by leading Delta Hawkeye Security and teaching as an instructor at the San Joaquin Delta College Police Academy.
