ATLANTA, Ga. A new documentary titled On Target: Women of Color in the Shooting Sports premiered this week at the Atlanta Independent Film Festival. Directed by former collegiate shooter Renee Brooks, the film profiles a diverse group of competitive athletes navigating both the challenges of elite competition and the cultural perceptions surrounding women of color in gun culture. The documentary features behind-the-scenes training footage, interviews with family members, and mentorship moments as the athletes work with younger shooters from underrepresented backgrounds. Brooks says the aim is to broaden the narrative of who participates in shooting sports and why.
