Eyeviation’s VCAT System Brings Fighter Pilot AI to Civilian Shooting Ranges
Cognitive-Aware VR Training Promises to Shorten Proficiency Curves in 15 Minutes

✍️By ZRIntel Editorial Team📍Las Vegas, NevadaAt SHOT Show 2026, Israeli startup Eyeviation unveiled the civilian version of its Virtual Cognitive-Aware Trainer (VCAT). Originally developed for elite special forces and fighter pilots, VCAT uses AI and eye-tracking sensors within a VR headset to analyze a shooter's entire cognitive process—from the moment a target is acquired to the post-shot recovery. The system doesn't just track where the 'bullet' hits; it tracks where the shooter's eyes are looking, their blink rate, and their decision-making speed under simulated pressure.
The 2026 commercial rollout allows range operators to offer 'micro-training' sessions where shooters can practice complex tactical scenarios without using a single round of live ammunition. VCAT’s AI provides an immediate 3D visualization of the shooter’s performance, highlighting 'cognitive tunnels' (tunnel vision) or delayed reaction times. Several high-end indoor ranges in the U.S. have already signed on to integrate VCAT stations, marketing them as a way for new shooters to overcome 'recoil shyness' and for advanced shooters to polish their visual processing skills.
We’ve had 'laser trainers' for years, but this is different. VCAT is essentially a brain-training tool that happens to involve a gun. Most shooters plateau because of mental habits they don't even know they have. Having an AI tell you that you're spending 0.4 seconds too long staring at your front sight instead of transition targets is the kind of 'cheat code' training that used to be reserved for Tier 1 operators.
