DETROIT, Michigan (WXYZ) The Department of Justice awarded a $2million grant to Detroit nonprofits to provide free firearm safety courses to atrisk youth and adults. Starting next month, certified instructors will teach safe storage, basic marksmanship, and crisisresponse tactics at community centers across the city. Grant administrator Malik Thompson emphasized the programs goal: Were empowering residents with practical skills to reduce accidental shootings and improve neighborhood safety. Enrollment opens August1 on the City of Detroit website.
