In a notable federal case, Talles Provette De Faria, a 35-year-old Brazilian national residing unlawfully in Carver, Massachusetts, has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for illegal firearm sales and distribution of fentanyl. The sentencing occurred in a Boston federal court, presided over by U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley. Following his imprisonment, De Faria will serve an additional three years of supervised release, with deportation proceedings anticipated after his stint. Previously, in December 2025, he had pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including dealing firearms without a license.
The events leading to his sentencing involved interactions with a cooperating witness on several occasions between April and September 2024, during which De Faria sold four firearms, including 9mm pistols, and fentanyl. Notably, on April 24, 2024, he sold two 9mm pistols in a Home Depot parking lot in Plymouth, Massachusetts. His operations included displaying firearms to the witness and offering them for sale. On September 19, 2024, before his arrest, he sold a pistol and a rifle β one of which had been reported stolen. The case, which drew attention to the illegal firearms trade, involved significant assistance from local law enforcement agencies and federal authorities.
