The indictment comes after Porter was found in possession of a firearm during an investigation into illegal weapons trafficking. Federal officials have emphasized that possession of machine guns by convicted felons poses a significant threat to public safety. The investigation revealed that Porter had been involved in a network of illegal gun trafficking, which included firearms that were sold without background checks or proper registration. This case is part of a nationwide initiative, Operation Take Back America, that seeks to dismantle transnational criminal organizations and eliminate illegal firearms from the streets.
