“Gun Rights Are Trans Rights” CT group makes moves for national campaign
📅
✍️By ZRIntel Editorial Team📍Shelton, ConnecticutIn a noteworthy development for both the gun rights and LGBTQ+ community, a Connecticut-based group named "A Better Way 2A" has launched a national campaign aligning gun rights with trans rights. This initiative comes from a coalition of libertarians, liberals, and leftists who advocate for Second Amendment rights in a progressive context, which is a significant shift in the narrative typically dominated by conservative voices. The campaign took shape with the display of four billboards on June 16th, along the I-95 highway just outside New Haven, Connecticut. These billboards read statements such as "Armed minorities are harder to oppress," "Gun rights are trans rights," "Gun rights are Gay Rights," and a message that will debut in July, stating, "Gun rights are queer rights every month." This dramatic messaging underlines the organization's aim to diversify the understanding of gun ownership, promoting inclusivity alongside the protection of rights. Jordan Levine, a Shelton, CT resident and co-founder of A Better Way 2A, has taken the lead in this advocacy. With a unique background as a former infantryman, Levine aims to create an inclusive space for discussing the Second Amendment. The organization also plans to establish the "A Better Way 2A Foundation," a nonprofit dedicated to spreading awareness about inclusive gun ownership and the Second Amendment, aiming to reach a broader audience beyond Connecticut. Levine will collaborate with fellow advocates James Hart and John Kraszewski, amongst others, to elevate this mission nationally. The organization has also embraced modern media through the launch of the "A Better Way 2A Podcast" in June 2024, featuring discussions with a diverse range of guests, including veterans and safety advocates. This podcast, combined with a merchandise store that has over 200 products, has generated significant funds, fostering the billboard campaign's visibility and outreach. The merchandise includes politically provocative items, some of which raise eyebrows yet resonate with the group's followers. Despite the positive momentum, the group faced challenges, particularly following the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025. A post on their Instagram account, while condemning violence, struck a chord with critics, leading to increased scrutiny and threats against the group. However, Levine highlights that they continue to grow, with their Instagram following increasing by approximately 8,800 followers since that incident alone, showcasing a resilient community rallying behind their mission. As they look to broaden their impact, the organization has secured advertising rights for a month in Nashville, Tennessee. They aim to display their "Gun rights are trans rights" billboard in this traditionally conservative area, indicating a strategic move to challenge norms and engage with a different demographic. The funds raised have reportedly amounted to $3,000, setting the stage for this major campaign. Levine passionately communicates the organization's mission, iterating their dedication to promoting a safe and empowered life for all. He notes, I live in this state and want our mission to grow here, selfish as that may be. Ill see it here. Id like to see it reach a point where we can see what we do in every state, but once we get off the ground, well see what we can do." The blending of gun rights advocacy with social justice narratives illustrates a significant cultural movement within the broader gun rights dialogue. As the organization gears up for a national presence, it faces both opportunity and resistance in advocating for a more inclusive perception of who gun owners can be.
