ICE and Air Force Suspend Use of SIG Sauer P320 Pistol Amid Safety Concerns

In two independent decisions announced between July 9 and July 24, 2025, both U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command suspended all use of the SIG Sauer P320 pistol. ICE issued a memo on July9 directing its firearms division to procure replacement weapons, specifically Glock pistols, within ten calendar days. A separate Air Force release on July21 placed the P320 on indefinite hold following a fatal incident in which the pistol reportedly discharged and killed an airman. These moves follow mounting litigation and internal reports citing uncommanded discharges from the P320 platforman issue that has drawn scrutiny since earlier model recalls. ICE declined to comment on the leak of internal documents but emphasized ongoing equipment reviews. The Air Force confirmed the pause while an investigative board reviews the incident.
