Following the theft of a rented Kia Soul in Redlands, California, two juveniles were arrested by local police. The incident involved a 13-year-old, who was already on probation for previous vehicle thefts. The Kia was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Alta Street, and with the help of GPS tracking, authorities recovered the vehicle. During their investigation, detectives found evidence linking the younger suspect to the Kia theft through both the vehicle’s GPS and his ankle monitor, which tracked the same route.
In addition to the stolen vehicle case, police discovered thousands of rounds of ammunition and several high-capacity magazines at the home of the 13-year-old, where a 15-year-old was also located. Both were taken into custody without further incident. This event was among several highlighted in the Redlands Police Department’s recent public safety update detailing the department's activities and arrests from May 7-14.
Beyond these arrests, Redlands police reported investigating multiple break-ins in the area, including thefts of golf clubs from unlocked vehicles. Another alarming incident involved a live grenade found among the belongings of someone sorting a deceased family member's property, necessitating intervention by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad.
On May 8, police recovered another stolen vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder, after an Automated License Plate Recognition camera detected it. There was an unexpected complication when the passenger of the SUV misidentified himself, later revealing an outstanding warrant from Riverside County.
