Shannon Hartfield, a 26-year-old man from Kent, Washington, has been convicted of an extensive series of armed robberies, which spanned the Puget Sound region from late 2021 to mid-2022. The Department of Justice announced his conviction on 17 federal felonies, including conspiracy to commit robbery, multiple counts of bank robbery, and using firearms in violent crimes.
Hartfield led a group of younger individuals, some as young as 14, to partake in these crimes. He utilized social media to recruit accomplices and orchestrated their efforts, providing them with firearms and vehicles for escape.
The robbing spree included marijuana dispensaries and financial institutions like Seattle Credit Union, culminating in Hartfield's detention following a Chase Bank robbery in Kent in June 2022. Prosecutors emphasized Hartfield's managerial role in the crew, portraying him as someone who viewed robbery as a strategic game rather than a crime. He now faces a sentencing that could impose a minimum of 45 years in prison due to the felonies linked to his use of firearms and violent crime.
