Las Vegas police say an officer shot a man armed with a knife during a tense standoff inside an apartment on August 10. Authorities were responding to a call about a domestic disturbance when the suspect barricaded himself in a bedroom. Crisis negotiators attempted to convince the man to surrender peacefully, but after several minutes, he allegedly emerged suddenly and lunged toward officers with the knife. One officer fired their duty weapon, striking the suspect in the torso. The man was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Police recovered the knife and are interviewing witnesses, including family members who were present during the incident. The shooting is under review by the departments Force Investigation Team. Residents in the building said they were startled by the heavy police presence and expressed relief that no bystanders were harmed.
