A Loris, South Carolina man, Joe Joe Detrell Gause, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of Brandon Robinson, who was shot and killed in December 2022. Gause pleaded guilty to murder in Horry County Circuit Court, narrowly avoiding a trial. The incident, a chilling example of firearms being used in domestic-related violence, occurred at Robinson's home in Conway on the night of December 11, 2022. Gause, having followed his ex-girlfriend to the residence, reportedly posed as a DoorDash delivery driver to get Robinson to open the door. When Robinson answered, Gause fired multiple shots through the door, striking him at least four times. Gause fled the scene, but was quickly identified by the woman who was present. Assistant Solicitor Elizabeth Bryant acknowledged the critical role of the Conway Police Department's investigation and the community's cooperation in the case, which led to Gause's swift apprehension.
