MEMPHIS, TN A jury has delivered a verdict in the tragic case of Christine Michael, a 16-year-old honor student who was shot and killed in 2023. Kevion Davis, a former Haywood County High student who was 18 at the time, has been convicted of second-degree murder for Michaels death. The jury also found Davis guilty of three counts of attempted second-degree murder, three counts of possession of a firearm in a dangerous felony, three counts of assault, and felony reckless endangerment. The shooting occurred on February 10, 2023, after a high school basketball game, when Davis and his co-defendant, Bishop Owens, pursued a vehicle with four teenagers inside, shooting at them multiple times. Christine Michael, who had no connection to the shooters, was struck in the back by a bullet and died from her wounds. Davis is set to be sentenced on October 27 and faces up to 74 years in prison. His co-defendant is scheduled for trial in April 2026. This conviction brings a degree of closure to a community shaken by an act of senseless violence that took the life of a promising young student.
