A late-night shooting outside a Houston gas station left one man dead and sparked a police search for the suspect. The incident occurred just after 11:45 p.m. Tuesday at a station near the 7000 block of Scott Street in southeast Houston. According to Houston Police Department investigators, the victim was standing near the gas pumps when he became involved in a brief verbal exchange with another man. Moments later, the suspect drew a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking the victim several times before fleeing in a dark SUV. Responding officers found the victim unresponsive and began life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victims name has not been released. Surveillance cameras at the station captured portions of the incident, and detectives are reviewing the footage in hopes of identifying the shooter. Police believe the confrontation may have been personal in nature, but they have not ruled out other motives.
