Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) today hosted its quarterly intramural marksmanship competition, an event designed to showcase and enhance the rifle and pistol skills of Marines and Sailors stationed on the base. The competition provides a crucial platform for service members to exercise and refine their technical and tactical proficiency with their M16A4 service rifles and M18 service pistols. Participants engaged a variety of targets on the range, demonstrating fundamental marksmanship principles under competitive pressure. U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Nicholas Delapaz, a native of Arlington, Texas, with 3rd Medical Battalion, was among those actively engaging targets with his M18 service pistol, underscoring the inter-service participation in these vital training exercises. These quarterly events are a cornerstone of military readiness, ensuring that all personnel maintain a high level of combat effectiveness and familiarity with their assigned weapon systems. Beyond the competitive aspect, the intramural marksmanship competition fosters esprit de corps and a healthy competitive spirit among units. It also serves as an important feedback mechanism for trainers and commanders to identify areas for improvement in individual and unit marksmanship programs.
