Midwest Tactical Training ( is a Michigan-based firearms training academy that serves students across Michigan and Wisconsin. Founded by Skip Coryell, a U.S. Marine veteran, USCCA certified pistol instructor, and published author, the program combines mission-minded instruction with real-world tactical rigor. Skip Coryell brings 20-plus years of experience teaching concealed carry and personal protection to civilians, churches, and Second Amendment groups. Midwest Tactical also proudly teaches endorsed USCCA-certified concealed carry classes. The instruction staff includes Sheriff Dar Leaf of Barry County, Michigan, a law enforcement veteran who teaches legal use-of-force, weapons retention, and knife defense, and Michael Maring, a USCCA-certified instructor and NRA range safety officer with law enforcement and dive team experience. MWTAC offers a clear training progression: Basic CPL (Concealed Pistol License) classes covering Michigan permitting requirements. Public sessions are held in locations like Hastings and Fennville, typically costing around $95. Advanced Handgun Courses broken into four levelsranging from Tactical Accuracy & Precision, to Drawstroke & Movement, through Advanced Handgun Tactics and dedicated shooting drills. Each is capped at small group sizes, runs $75, and includes hands-on tactical drills like team movement, vehicle defense, multiple-target engagement, video debriefs, and CQB basics.
