📅
✍️By ZRIntel Editorial Team📍Arcadia, OKThe 2025 NRA National High Power Mid-Range Prone Championship, a prestigious event for competitive rifle shooters, made its debut at the Oklahoma City Gun Club in Arcadia, Oklahoma. Held from June 4-8, 2025, the event marked the first time this championship moved from its longtime home at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, to central Oklahoma, an area known for its strong shooting culture and excellent facilities. The competition attracted top-tier shooters from 14 states and one foreign country, all vying for the coveted Patriot Minuteman Trophy and the honor of being crowned national champion. The Oklahoma City Gun Club, located 26 miles northeast of downtown Oklahoma City, is a sprawling 600-acre facility that has long been a hub for competitive shooting. The club boasts multiple ranges, including those dedicated to high power rifle, smallbore, pistol, and shotgun sports. The Mid-Range Championship was held on their meticulously maintained high power range, which supports firing distances up to 1,000 yards. The events smooth execution was thanks in large part to a dedicated group of nearly 50 volunteers who ensured that everything ran efficiently, from scoring to safety management. Sgt. 1st Class Brandon Green (Ret.), one of the most decorated shooters in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, dominated the competition initially, posting a perfect score of 600-52X on the first day of shooting. Green, using his Nesika bolt-action rifle chambered in 6 mm GT, was in top form and set a strong pace. However, the competition tightened as other shooters stepped up to challenge him. On Day 2, Green's score dropped slightly, allowing Tanner Burrows, a rising star in the shooting community, to take the lead. Burrows, shooting a Tubb Adaptive Target Rifle, posted a perfect 600-44X, the only perfect score of the day. Burrows, who has only been shooting competitively for about six years, continued to push his limits as the competition progressed. His performance in the final days was extraordinary, and despite posting his lowest score of the match on Day 3 (598-42X), he held on to secure the national title with a grand aggregate score of 2396-172X. This victory marked Burrows first national title and a new record in NRA Mid-Range Championship history. His remarkable achievement included setting a new national record for consecutive X-ring shots at 600 yards, with 25 perfect shots strung togethera feat unmatched in both Iron Sight and Any Sight history. The 2025 NRA High Power Mid-Range Championship was also a testament to the strength of teamwork. The final day saw the USNRT Rowe team, led by Charles Rowe, take the team championship with a near-perfect score of 2399-179X. The teams victory also set a new NRA Mid-Range Team National Record, highlighting the collective effort and teamwork that are essential in competitive shooting. Among other highlights, Kimberly Rowe, a standout shooter in her own right, claimed the High Woman honor, posting a score of 2392-164X. Rowes consistent performance throughout the event played a crucial role in the teams success, and her achievements were a testament to her dedication and skill as a competitive shooter. Rowe attributed much of her success to the high-quality ammunition she used, specifically Vihtavuori N140 powder, which she praised for its consistency and reliability in varying conditions. As the event concluded, Green reflected on the competition, acknowledging the exceptional performances of his fellow shooters. Despite finishing second, Green took home three new NRA national records in the Military Veteran category, adding to his already impressive list of accomplishments. His performance throughout the competition demonstrated the high level of preparation and expertise that marks top-level competitive shooters. The 2025 NRA High Power Mid-Range Championship highlighted the strong tradition of precision rifle shooting in the U.S. and the growth of the competitive shooting community. As the shooting community continues to grow, more competitors like Burrows and Rowe will emerge, further elevating the sport. With records broken and new champions crowned, the event was a resounding success and set the stage for future high power rifle competitions in Oklahoma.
