Oregon Judge Blocks New High-Capacity Magazine Ban Pending Appeal
Temporary injunction halts enforcement of Measure 119 restrictions
📅
✍️By ZRIntel Editorial Team📍Salem, OregonOn August 8, 2025, a state circuit court judge in Salem issued a temporary injunction preventing Oregons newly enacted high-capacity magazine ban from taking effect. The law, passed as Measure 119 in November 2024, would have prohibited the sale, manufacture, and possession of magazines holding more than 10 rounds. Gun rights groups, including the Oregon Firearms Federation, argued the measure violates both state and federal constitutional protections. The court agreed there is a substantial likelihood of success on the merits and that immediate enforcement could cause irreparable harm to lawful gun owners. The Oregon Attorney Generals office has announced plans to appeal the ruling to the state Supreme Court.
