Phoenix Police Fatally Shoot Armed Man After Foot Pursuit

PHOENIX, Ariz. A man was shot and killed by Phoenix police late Sunday after a foot chase through a residential neighborhood. According to police, officers attempted to stop the man for questioning related to an earlier disturbance call involving a firearm. The suspect fled on foot, leading officers through multiple backyards. During the pursuit, investigators say the man pulled a handgun and turned toward pursuing officers. At least one officer fired, striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured. The Phoenix Police Departments Professional Standards Bureau and the Maricopa County Attorneys Office are reviewing the incident. Body camera footage will be released in line with department policy.
