(KAIT) - A man faces attempted murder and 10 other charges after police say he assaulted and held his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint while firing shots in a house where children were present. According to a probable cause affidavit, Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler found sufficient grounds to charge Jeremy Akeem Delvridge with multiple offenses following a domestic disturbance reported on November 1. The initial call prompted officers to respond to a private residence on Phillip Evans Way, where a terrified woman approached authorities, exclaiming, "Hes in there with my son." Upon entering the home, law enforcement discovered Delvridge in a hallway, armed, and interacting with a child. Delvridge reportedly disregarded commands to drop his firearm, which escalated the situation. He eventually fled the scene but was apprehended soon after. Further statements from the victim reveal a troubling narrative of manipulation and violence. Delvridge was welcomed into the home under false pretenses, whereupon he forcibly entered the residence, becoming aggressive and accusing the victim of infidelity. During the assault, the victim described being choked and struck, leaving her unconscious at one point. The incident became more sinister as Delvridge drew the children into the turmoil. When one of them was awakened by the commotion, Delvridge attempted to silence the victim by covering her mouth, leading her to deceive her child about the situation by saying they were "just playing." In a terrifying display, Delvridge switched to the kitchen, where he brandished the firearm, threatened the victim, and discharged rounds through the doors of the residence. The confrontation escalated as he coerced the victim into the bathroom, gun to her chin, pulling the trigger while narrowly missing her, before shooting into the bathroom wall. The resultant noise awoke the children, prompting their frantic knocking on the bathroom door. This moment of distraction provided the victim a slim opportunity to escape and alert the authorities. According to the affidavit, although the gun belonged to the victim, the circumstances regarding how Delvridge obtained it remained unclear. Law enforcement subsequently verified the victim's account through physical evidenceincluding bullet holes corroborating her descriptionand surveillance footage from a Ring camera further substantiated her assertions. Delvridge is currently being held on a $350,000 cash surety bond at the Craighead County Detention Center, firmly echoing the urgency of enforcing realistic measures against domestic violence and illegal firearm access.
