JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A man faces attempted murder and 10 other charges after police say he assaulted and held his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint and fired shots with her children in the home. According to the probable cause affidavit, Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge 27-year-old Jeremy Akeem Delvridge with multiple charges, including attempted murder, following a domestic disturbance incident that occurred on November 1. When officers arrived at the home on Phillip Evans Way, they were met by a distressed woman who exclaimed, Hes in there with my son. Once inside, police encountered Delvridge standing in the hallway, armed with a firearm and speaking with a child. Even after repeated commands to drop the gun, Delvridge fled into another room and eventually exited through a window, only to be apprehended while he was unarmed outside. Upon interviewing the victim, officers learned more about the harrowing encounter. The victim, who had sustained multiple injuries, explained that Delvridge had no reason to be present in her home when he forced his way inside. Once inside, he accused her of infidelity and began physically assaulting her, choking her as she struggled to gain her bearings. The altercation turned increasingly dangerous, culminating in Delvridge drawing a firearm and firing shots in the residence. The confrontation escalated when one of the victim's children awoke and exited their bedroom. In an attempt to reassure the child, the victim claimed they were just playing while trying to suppress her distress. Delvridge continued to threaten her, stating he would knock her out and physically assaulted her before firing out the front and back doors. In a particularly chilling moment, he forced the victim into the bathroom and held the gun under her chin, firing a round that miraculously missed her. During the chaotic ordeal, both children became increasingly alarmed by the gunfire and began knocking on the bathroom door. The victim, attempting to protect her children, managed to keep calm while secretly plotting her escape. Seizing a moment when Delvridge was distracted, she asked to step outside, claiming she needed a smoke. This allowed her to flee to a nearby window to alert her child to call the police, leading to the swift arrival of law enforcement. Initial investigations revealed that Delvridge had used the victims gun, though she was unsure how he accessed it. Physical evidence from the scene included bullet holes in the bathroom, corroborating her account, and ring camera footage supported key elements of her testimony. The firearm was subsequently discovered hidden in a bedroom after Delvridges ill-fated attempt to escape. The psychological and physical toll on the victim has been profound, as she reported experiencing a plethora of injuries and multiple instances of losing consciousness during the ordeal. Currently, Delvridge remains in custody at the Craighead County Detention Center under a $350,000 cash surety bond, facing serious charges that include attempted murder and multiple counts of assault and weapon-related offenses.
