Chance Cavin, 38, of Madison, Mississippi, dominated the event with record-breaking performances across multiple categories, including the Three-Gun Aggregate (869-26X), Four-Gun Aggregate (1157-38X), and Carbine (380-8X) events. Cavin also captured victories in the Garand and Vintage Military rifle matches, posting impressive scores of 294-11X and 288-9X, respectively. His performance solidified his position as one of the top competitors in the competitive shooting community. But Cavin wasnt the only standout at the event. Keith Schachle, 66, from Jasper, Georgia, made his mark by setting a new record in the Springfield Match with an outstanding score of 289-8X. Schachle also teamed up with Ken Lore to lead the Boomers squad to victory in the Manual Vintage Sniper Team match, posting an impressive score of 392-12X. On the pistol range, 61-year-old Kyle Kirschenmann from Tellico Plains, Tennessee, made waves by securing back-to-back wins. He topped the Military & Police Pistol Match leaderboard with a 350-7X score and cruised to victory in the As-Issued 1911 Match, winning by more than 20 points with a score of 357-5X. The event also featured several shotgun competitions, with the team of Grant Lewis and Dudley Parker, competing under the name Sunshine, claiming the Team Match title with a score of 163. Additionally, Mark Holland, 61, of Sanford, North Carolina, emerged victorious in the Five-Stand event with a score of 24. The competition was as fierce as it was diverse, featuring various categories that brought out the best in shooters from across the country. The Vintage Sniper Team titles were highly contested, with the team SIRPC Iron Wind (Paul Jackson and James Diehl) delivering the highest team score of the weekend in the Vietnam Era match with a score of 394-16X. Other notable performances included Danny Arnold, 60, of Purcell, Oklahoma, who triumphed in the Modern Military match with a solid score of 295-18X. Scott Godwin, 51, of Auburn, Alabama, took home the Roosevelt Commemorative title with an impressive 289-7X. In the benchrest rifle category, William Fairless, 30, from El Paso, Texas, emerged as the top Vintage Military shooter, while Wesley Underwood, 62, of Westminster, Colorado, posted a strong score of 399-22X in Rimfire T-Class. The competition attracted shooters of all ages, with Jack Prucha, 83, from Georgia, making his mark by winning the Rimfire O-Class with a score of 359-1X. The 2025 CMP Talladega D-Day Matches have once again proven to be one of the premier shooting events in the country. With over 270 competitors, the event provided a platform for shooters of all backgrounds and experience levels to showcase their skills in various disciplines.
