SAN ANTONIO, Texas Retired Marine Master Sergeant David Haskins is bringing adaptive shooting opportunities to disabled veterans through his newly launched Warrior Aim program. Partnering with local VFW posts and rehabilitation clinics, Haskins has designed range setups with adjustable benches, support harnesses, and modified controls to accommodate a variety of mobility and strength limitations. The program blends marksmanship fundamentals with therapeutic benefits, helping participants rebuild confidence and camaraderie. Instructors, many of them veterans themselves, undergo specialized training in adaptive coaching. Courses include rifle and pistol work, with progression tailored to each shooters capability and recovery goals. Haskins says the inspiration came from seeing fellow veterans withdraw from the shooting sports due to injury. We adapt the gear to the shooter, not the other way around, he notes. The program is currently free for qualified veterans, with funding from local donations and national veteran-support grants.
