Skip-J Range ( is a premier firearms training facility and private pistol and rifle club located in Anderson, South Carolina. Founded to provide a safe and professional environment for shooters of all skill levels, the range offers a comprehensive range of services, including firearm training, concealed weapons permit (CWP) classes, and a variety of shooting competitions. The facility boasts multiple shooting bays, including a 125-yard rifle bay and several 80' and 120' rifle/pistol bays, all equipped with dirt berms for safety. Members enjoy access to the range from 9:00 AM to sunset Monday through Saturday, and 1:30 PM to sunset on Sunday. The academy's offerings include South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) classes held on the third and fourth weekends of each month, as well as private individual and small group classes by appointment. These classes are designed to meet the state's requirements for obtaining a concealed carry permit and cover topics such as firearm safety, legal considerations, and proper handling techniques. In addition to CWP classes, Skip-J Range offers a variety of firearm training courses, including basic and advanced pistol and rifle training, women's-only classes, and combined CWP/basic pistol courses. These courses are taught by experienced instructors, including David 'Terry' Candler, who has over 20 years of instructing experience and is certified by the NRA and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
