Dr. Adam Adamu Alhassan Bonaa, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, addressed students in Kumasi, urging them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious gun-related activities they may observe in their communities. His message was clear: community cooperation is paramount in combating the illegal arms trade. I urge the public to remain alert within their communities and report any suspicious individuals who possess firearms for unlawful or criminal purposes. Even if you suspect a neighbor has a weapon, notify the Commission so we can verify whether it is licensed or not, Dr. Bonaa stressed during his address. He also cautioned licensed gun owners, emphasizing that holding a license does not give them the right to carry their firearms indiscriminately or display them publicly, as such behaviors are strictly prohibited under law. The Commission has underscored the importance of public cooperation and vigilance in the fight against illegal arms.
