A man from Somerset County, Pennsylvania, is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly firing shots at law enforcement officials. Christopher Fisher, 41, was arrested following a standoff while police were executing a felony warrant for aggravated assault and strangulation on April 16. The state police's Fugitive Task Force and U.S. Marshals were involved.
When police attempted to communicate with Fisher using a PA speaker, he allegedly refused to comply, prompting officers to approach his trailer's front door. Upon reaching the door, they heard a loud noise, which they believed to be gunfire. Fisher then reportedly fired three shots, which struck the law enforcement vehicle. Fortunately, there were no injuries during the incident.
Following the shooting, Fisher called 911, expressing a desire to talk to the officers surrounding his home and indicating he did not want to harm his dog or anyone else. After this call, he was peacefully taken into custody. During police interviews, he claimed he did not intend to shoot at officers when he fired his weapon. However, he admitted to hiding his firearm and empty shells during the incident. In a subsequent search of his home, police recovered a Smith & Wesson revolver and spent ammunition.
Fisher now faces serious charges, including multiple counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault, with bail denied due to concerns for community safety.
