✍️By ZRIntel Editorial Team📍Jonesboro, ArkansasJonesboro, AR The St. Bernards Foundation is set to host its sixth annual Wings and Clays event, a gathering designed not only for fun but also to raise funds for the St. Bernards Heart Care Center. Scheduled to kick off with the Double Barrel Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the St. Bernards Auditorium, this years festivities promise a delightful culinary experience featuring catfish, drinks, a live auction, raffles, and live music by Eli Adams, all topped off with a mechanical bull for some added excitement. Following the dinner, the spotlight shifts to the main event: a two-day clay shooting tournament held on November 3-4 at the Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex. This tournament, which has participants forming teams of five, will engage in a competitive skeet shooting challenge. To accommodate varying schedules of participants, the event is organized into four shooting sessions distributed across Monday and Tuesday, where teams will rotate through eight shooting stations. Alden Weeks, the development manager for the St. Bernards Development Foundation, shared insights into the origins of this event, which started in 2016 primarily as a shooting competition located in Walnut Ridge. This year, theyve decided to bring it back to Jonesboro and introduce a dinner aspect to foster even more community involvement. "Its a very casual, very fun, laid back, and just an opportunity to get people together and raise a little money for our heart and vascular programs," Weeks explained, emphasizing the importance of community support in maintaining top-notch heart care services. Tickets for the dinner are priced at $50 each, or $400 for a table of eight, available up until the day of the event. Those looking to participate in the clay shooting competition must register, with the fee set at $1,200 for a five-member team. This fee also covers breakfast and lunch for both days, a commemorative gift, and opportunities to win extra prizes. Furthermore, each member of the overall winning team will be awarded an impressive over-under shotgun, adding an incentive for excellence. Weeks reiterated the significance of the event, stating, It's important that we have this program and we support our program and our physicians so that we can continue to have that world-class care right here in Northeast Arkansas. Were really fortunate to have those services available in our community, and its important to support that. This dedication not only reflects a commitment to community health but also cultivates a sense of camaraderie among participants, uniting them for a noble cause. As the event draws near, its expected to engage various community members and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The blending of a shooting competition with a dinner fundraiser creates an inviting atmosphere likely to draw attention both locally and from surrounding areas. In conclusion, the Wings and Clays event stands not only as a sporting competition but as a community engagement initiative aimed at strengthening health services in Northeast Arkansas. With the dual focus on sport and philanthropy, it exemplifies the growing trend of outdoor events becoming platforms for fundraising efforts.
