Tulsa Homeowner Shoots Armed Man Attempting Break-In

The incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. in a quiet residential neighborhood near East 41st Street and South Harvard Avenue. According to detectives, the suspect was spotted on security cameras walking up the driveway and attempting to pry open a side door. The homeowner, who had been alerted by his alarm system, armed himself with a handgun and confronted the suspect in the backyard. Investigators say the suspect pointed a firearm at the homeowner, prompting him to fire two shots. The suspect fled but collapsed in a nearby alley, where officers found him with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to St. John Medical Center and is expected to survive. Police have identified the suspect as 33-year-old Marcus Bell, who is currently under investigation for a string of burglaries in the Tulsa area. He faces charges of first-degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg reminded residents that Oklahomas Stand Your Ground law provides protections for those defending themselves in their own homes, but also stressed the importance of calling 911 before engaging with intruders whenever possible.
