The Uttar Pradesh Police Department is set to revolutionize its training programs by introducing state-of-the-art wireless firing simulators across six police training institutes. This groundbreaking initiative, approved by Governor Anandiben Patel, is expected to significantly enhance the safety, effectiveness, and frequency of police training sessions in the state. By reducing the dependency on live ammunition, these simulators provide a more controlled, cost-effective, and safer environment for training law enforcement personnel. A total budget of 4 crore has been allocated for this ambitious project, which is expected to be completed by March 2026. The simulators will be installed at five training institutes in Moradabad, Sultanpur, Sitapur, Unnao, and the Police Academy in Moradabad, with each receiving a six-lane simulator valued at 65 lakh. Additionally, the Police Training School in Jalaun will be equipped with a more advanced eight-lane simulator worth 75 lakh. These advanced simulators will allow the police officers to simulate real-life shooting scenarios, improving their marksmanship and decision-making skills in a variety of situations. The primary advantage of the wireless firing simulators is their ability to replicate a range of complex shooting scenarios while reducing the need for expensive and hazardous live ammunition. These simulators use advanced technology to mimic real-world combat, providing trainees with an immersive experience where they can practice their tactical skills and improve their reflexes in a safe, controlled environment. This type of training is especially critical as it ensures that officers are better prepared for high-stress situations without the logistical challenges of using live rounds. In addition to enhancing police training, the use of firing simulators addresses a number of practical challenges that have traditionally hindered training efforts. For instance, in many urban areas, the availability of live firing ranges is limited due to the surrounding infrastructure, while adverse weather conditions can also curtail outdoor training sessions. By providing a year-round, indoor training solution, these simulators make training more accessible and consistent for officers, regardless of location or weather. Additional Director General of Police, Training and Services, Amit Chandra, highlighted the key benefits of the simulators in overcoming logistical challenges and enhancing training outcomes. He emphasized that this initiative would not only improve the frequency of training sessions but also ensure that officers receive consistent, high-quality practice. The wireless simulators will allow for repeated drills and practice without the concerns of ammunition shortages or unsafe conditions. According to Chandra, the technology would help officers improve their reflexes, simulate real-world pressure, and help them make better decisions in critical situations. The simulators are being procured through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the acquisition process. The GeM portal is designed to streamline the procurement of government goods and services, helping ensure that the simulators meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The addition of these simulators to the police training curriculum marks an important step in modernizing and improving law enforcement training across the state.
