A concealed carry weapons (CCW) course in Salt Lake City on August 11 saw its largest class of the year, with more than 50 participantsmost of them first-time applicants. The uptick comes as Utah residents prepare for upcoming changes in reciprocity agreements with neighboring states. The class covered Utahs legal framework for concealed carry, safe firearm storage, and defensive shooting fundamentals. Instructors emphasized situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and the legal consequences of using deadly force. Students participated in hands-on drills using blue guns and dry-fire exercises, with several noting the training went far beyond what they expected in terms of practical self-defense mindset.
