This league, which is gaining traction, is entering the home stretch of its eight-week regular season, preparing teams for an exciting postseason. In this high-stakes environment, competitors engage in 60 shot precision standing matches or 30 shot sporter three-position air rifle competitions. Teams earn totals based upon their top four shooters, creating a dynamic and strategic contest each week. In Week 6, the competition was fierce, with several nail-biting finishes and some unexpected results. The top teams in the Sporter League displayed exceptional skill, and Fontana MCJROTC (6-0) maintained their undefeated streak after defeating the second-ranked Palm Bay MCJROTC (5-1). Walton County Air Rifle also kept their perfect record intact, demonstrating resilience in a tightly contested matchup against Pacific MCJROTC. Not to be overlooked, North Brunswick AJROTC (4-1) showcased some of their best shooting yet, further tightening the race for the postseason. In the Precision League, Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club (5-0) edged out Lafayette Gun Club (3-2) in an exhilarating contest that swung back and forth throughout the stages. American Legion Post 295 (4-1) also registered a solid victory against Sutter Union High School (3-2). As these teams gear up for the final weeks of competition, the pursuit for championship glory intensifies. Several results stood out during this week's competitions. In the most exciting precision match, the Everett Sportsman Junior Rifle Club finished with a score of 2467.3, narrowly defeating Lafayette Gun Club at 2458.7. This competition was a roller-coaster, with Everett grabbing the lead, losing it, and then regaining it in a thrilling finish. Kinzey Williams emerged as the star shooter for Everett with a remarkable score of 623.4. Similarly noteworthy, the match between Fontana MCJROTC and Palm Bay MCJROTC was another highlight of the week. This matchup pitted two of the league's best against each other, showcasing their skills in each position. Ultimately, Fontana triumphed with a decisive lead, setting the stage for what might become one of the league's iconic performances. The highlight of the week came when Stony Point NJROTC and Ramona NJROTC faced off, resulting in the league's first-ever tie. The match was contested fiercely, with both teams exchanging leads before Stony Point tied the score in an impressive comeback. Because Stony Point had a higher standing score, they were awarded the victory, marking a historic moment in the league's competitive history. As the league prepares for its final games, the excitement is palpable. For teams, coaches, and participants, the fierce competition fosters growth, discipline, and sportmanship. This league has grown not just in number but in the caliber of athletes participating, proving to be a crucial stepping stone for young shooters aiming for excellence.
