A 44-year-old man from Edon, Ohio, has been sentenced to over six years in federal prison for illegally possessing and trading firearms on Facebook. Dannie Wireman, a convicted felon, used the platform to barter firearms for items including a snowmobile, a racecar, and even a beagle hunting dog. A federal investigation revealed Wireman had over 20 unregistered firearms in his possession despite a prior felony burglary conviction. Wireman was charged with being a felon in possession of firearms and possession of an unregistered firearm. Authorities executed a search warrant in March 2024 and seized 22 long guns, a sawed-off shotgun, and ammunition. Wireman will also serve three years of supervised release post-incarceration.
